Construction Updates
As many of you know, we are currently navigating modernization construction at Charles Hart Middle School. We appreciate your patience and partnership as we work through these improvements. Safety remains our highest priority, and we will continue to communicate important updates and any changes that may affect students and families.
Although construction may create some temporary adjustments, our mission remains the same: to provide our students with a safe, welcoming, and high-quality learning environment.

π« Arriving to School
We want students to arrive prepared, confident, and ready for takeoff.
Doors open at 8:15 AM, and breakfast is available for students. Students should report to the designated check-in area when they arrive.
Student schedules will be available so that each scholar knows their classes, teachers, and locations. Staff members will be stationed throughout the building to help students find their classrooms and navigate the school.
π± Cell Phone Check-In
As part of our commitment to creating a focused learning environment and DCPS Policy, our Deans will collect cell phones during morning check-in.
Each student will receive their own individual phone pouch. Students will place their cell phone in their assigned pouch at check-in, and staff will secure the pouch according to school procedures.
Students should arrive with their phones powered off or silenced and ready to be secured. Phones will remain secured during the school day and will be returned according to our established dismissal procedures.
We ask families to support this expectation by reminding students that school is a place to learn, connect, collaborate, and S.O.A.R without distractions.
π Uniform Expectations
Students should arrive on the first day of school and there after, in their grade-level uniform shirt and khaki bottoms.
Grade-Level Uniform Colors:
π¨ 6th Grade β Gold Polo
π© 7th Grade β Green Polo
β¬ 8th Grade β Black Polo
All students should wear khaki bottoms and closed-toed shoes; no Crocs, slides, or sandals.
Please make sure your scholar wears the appropriate grade-level shirt and khaki bottoms before arriving at school. Starting the year in uniform demonstrates readiness, pride, and school identity.
π School Supplies
Help your scholar start the year ready to learn. Suggested supplies include:
- Backpack
- Pencils and pens
- Notebooks or a binder with paper
- Pencil pouch
- Highlighters
π After-School Program
We are excited to offer after-school opportunities that provide students with additional academic support, enrichment, and opportunities to build their interests and talents.
π Back-to-School Night
Please join us for our annual Jets En Blanc: Back-to-School Night on Tuesday, September 15, beginning at 5:00 PM.
This will be an important opportunity for families to meet teachers, learn about classroom expectations, understand our academic priorities, and discover ways to partner with us throughout the school year.

π Our Flight Plan
This year, we are committed to ensuring that every Hart Jet is:
S β Successful
O β Organized
A β Attentive
R β Respectful
Together, we will create a school culture where students feel known, supported, challenged, and inspired to achieve their goals.
